Hi... my hen today decided to come down to the floor (on her own first time)

but then decided to start doing this.. she has a cat tray of feed dust and seeds and stuff above her cage she scratches in usually lol

and as I upload this short video. My male climbed down as well and started feeding her... she then returns to scratching, he goes after her feet half heartedly, then off to explore together haha he’s always on the floor mr adventurous

There a little to young for the no no thing, but they could end up being a bonded pair in the future.

That could end up effecting how they bond with you if left together.

I think digging is quite a natural behaviour for grey's? I think it's a foraging behaviour?

Could also be nesting/mating behaviour I suppose but they are probably a little too young for that.

Alfie is currently chewing up cardboard boxes on his shelf and occasionally stops to dig in the wreckage that was once a box. He also digs on the sofa sometimes.

Yeah I think they will be bonded pair, they share a cage now.. getting on well, still squabble occasionally but I think it’s normal haha!

i agree, that there bond could ruin my bond with them but if they prefer each other than me that’s ok..

as as long as they are happy 😊

just thought it was weird and random of her to do this haha 🤣

My macaw 'fed' me by age 2.  Def not sexually mature -- but she did enjoy bringing something back up to 'share' -- um, no thanks.  They seem to be born knowing this behaviour.

When my grey brings back up food to feed me (30+ years old) it IS maturity, and courtship.

But with such your young greys, I wouldn't worry.

Scratching around at that age (or any) sounds fairly normal to me.

I've seen the scratching behavior too and agree that it is foraging/normal behavior.

When my greys were super young, they spent a lot of time digging. They outgrew it over time.

She’s just a weirdo that likes to bury her head in the darkness when she does it 😂

When Corky was younger she also did the scratching thing but now she just likes to destroy stuff.
