I have a grey he’s 35 years old. Amazing bird!! Have had him since since he was 2 months old. I have a question he has an amazing amount of red feathers. His neck is ringed with red feathers along with his entire stomach. Rare???

That's called red factor. Some greys have a lot of red feathers while some only have a feather or two. Personally I think it gives them a bit of character!

It's perfectly fine.

I don't think it's rare to see some red feathers. Timber has a few and has had them since he came to me. Some have more than others. As Greytness said, it gives them character!

  • Some red factor Greys start out with the red feathers mixed in with the grey feathers but are gone after the first molt and some keep some or all the red factor feathers that are mixed in with the grey feathers.
  • So enjoy your Grey because its spicial !!
